Unfortunately, most people wait until their late 50's or early 60's to purchase long-term care insurance. This is usually after they've experienced a friend or loved one needing the coverage and they realize how important it is.

The earlier the better for cost. The premium increases rapidly after age 50.

FYI - over 50% of us will need long term care assistance some time in our lives, and over 10% of those needing long term care are under 50. Medicare covers very little if any long term care and only for a short time.

I bought it at about 36. (I'm 2 weeks shy of 40 now.)

I don't know the average cost-effectiveness for such policies. The cost-effectiveness of yours won't be known until you know what care you received. While I've been fortunate to be extraordinarily healthy during my adult life I like the peace of mind it gives me. While I could pay cash for a disastrous health event, it would certainly force me to change retirement planning.

Fixed rates would also be a good hedge against inflation, which I think is likely within the next two years once the economy recovers.

I didn't exactly answer your question, but hope this helps.

that is a very difficult one
you would need to take a lawyer to where he is at and have the power of attorney set up
and that is just the start of it.. you have the military to deal with just as well
and if your in Illinois the waiting list to get in is 6 months it can be done it will take some time
if you are a good and close friend to him it will help allot
good luck

You can't. If he has demetia, he doesn't have the mental capability to give you a POA. You would have to petition the court to be made his guardian.

the first step to recovery is being able to acknowledge that your problem needs addressing...
i really admire you for wanting to do the right thing and seek help.. it can be so hard to admit that you are in need of professional help but believe me...there is no shame in it...
you'd be suprised how many people suffer from mental illnesses but some can conceal it extremely well.. cutting yourself is quite common and like OCD it seems to relieve people there their stresses and compulsions...
all i can say is consult your doctor and tell him everything..you have to tell him to the true extent of your physical harming and explain that you may feel suicidal..(i read your other post)
doctors can be really flippant but if you tell them how you really feel and say you want 2 be referred to a psychologist...
they can really help...talking can do so much
you are not alone in this world...there are so many people that suffer in silence which is worse as bottling these actions can have disastrous consquences...
however NOTHING is ever too big...as much as it may seem...nothing is ever too late and nothing is ever unchangeable..
i know it may seem like the world is a dull and malicious place but with the right help...you can change your life
i know i say this, but im also depressed at the moment... but as people say, its easier to address peoples problems than fix your own!
i hope you get better mate, have faith, there is nothing you cannot do!
if u wanna chat contact me..
all the best
